EV & Industrial Batteries
The EU Battery Regulation mandates a Digital Battery Passport for all industrial, EV, and light means of transport batteries placed on the EU market. Compliance is a market access condition — not optional.
Regulatory requirements
Digital Battery Passport mandatory from February 2027
All industrial batteries above 2kWh, EV batteries, and LMT batteries must carry a Digital Battery Passport accessible via QR code or NFC data carrier.
DIN DKE SPEC 99100 data model alignment
The German national DPP standard defines the data schema for battery passports, aligned with the EU regulatory framework and CIRPASS recommendations.
Supply chain due diligence data
Responsible sourcing data for cobalt, lithium, and other critical raw materials must be collected from upstream suppliers and included in the passport.
Carbon footprint declaration
CO₂ footprint per kWh must be declared and verified from 2025 for industrial and EV batteries, with threshold requirements phased in from 2027.
State of health & second-life data
Battery state of health, capacity, and cycle count must be accessible to independent operators and recyclers to enable second-life assessment and compliant end-of-life treatment.
Recycled content minimum thresholds
Minimum recycled content targets for cobalt, lithium, nickel, and lead apply from 2031, with passport data used to demonstrate compliance.
